01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Unlike the rich, heavy sesame-paste styles found elsewhere, the signature dandan noodles at Panda stand out for their lighter, drinkable broth. The fragrant toastiness of sesame and miso mingles with minced pork, zha cai (pickled mustard greens), and small dried shrimp, imparting nuanced flavor with every spoonful. Spicing is deliberately restrained to a gentle tingle, making it accessible even to diners wary of fiery heat. Those craving extra punch can opt for the Li Dandan Noodles, while a chilled version offers seasonal respite.

For hungrier lunch or evening visits, combination sets paired with rice dishes are a popular route. A comforting half-portion of fried rice studded with roast pork, kamaboko fish cake, and scallions offers classic depth, while the half chukadon—a bowl topped with stir-fried vegetables and meats in savory gravy—is another well-loved companion.

Beyond noodles, Panda shines through an extensive selection of affordable small plates. Guests can sample mapo harusame (glass noodles with spicy minced pork), salt-fried squid, and black pepper pork alongside freshly pan-fried gyoza and a cold beer.

With its counter seating and unpretentious old-school machi-chuka atmosphere, the restaurant welcomes solo diners for a speedy bite just as readily as after-work visitors stopping by for a relaxed drink. Please note that payments are cash only.
